Just downloaded the game after months of waiting. I am running a pentium m 1.73ghz system, 2 gigs ram, and geforce 6800 vid. I know this is just an alpha release, but i have noticed some problems. Firstly, i am aware that a release like this may play different of various system. On my system it is almost not playable. The 3d screen has almost no lighting, the rails and much of the surface appears black. Also, the game runs incredibly slow. There is so much lag it takes minutes to aim just right. Other than that the layout looks good. However, the game just doesnt feel right. http://www.miniclip.com has a similar pool game on their site, and ill tell you why i like it. The game is built to play fast, effecient, and lag free. This software seems like players will spend alot of time waiting for their opponent to shoot. Ive been playing games like virtual pool, and world snooker challenge for years, and the 3d view from behind the ball where a user has to basically guess the aim is very frustrating. Mini clip has a top down view with an easier aiming system. Now, this aiming system (basically a line from cue ball to object ball) makes potting the ball alot easier, but not guarenteed. The skill in the game lies in the runout, planning shape, and english. I feel that for your site to be successful, you must also adopt these principles: -speedier gameplay, less worry about graphics, easier potting/aiming system, more emphasis on english and planning the runout.

I am a proffessional pool player from Canada, and have discussed this with many other pool players. What we look for in a pool game isnt intense 3d graphics, its being able to plan out a table and effectively run out. Otherwise, frustration may prevent players from playing the game, especially if its for money. Again, if you havent yet, go to http://www.miniclip.com, go to multiplayer games, and select 9 ball pool. See what they have done to keep players interest, and adopt and improve it for poolstars, and you will surely dominate the (shrinking) market of computer pool players!

I hope this helps you.

Good luck with the game.

Thanks for your comments, we have been working on some of the issues you already specified, and are doing are best to solve them. We are releasing in next two days another alpha release with a new interface. We are aware of the video card and lag issues and this is our primary concern at this point.

We hope you will join us for our beta program in the upcoming weeks. We will keep you informed.

Hello,

nothing major just that when i start the application i get an "Abnormal program termination" pop-up saying:
"Allocation error
Create sources: Invalid enum parameter value"
After hitting the ok button the program runs fine though...

Also, when running the game in full-screen i can't seem to find an exit button.

specs:
AMD Athlon 64bits 3000+
1GB RAM
eVGA GeForce 8500GT 256Mb pci-e (latest nVidia drivers 163.71)
Windows Knockout MCE SP2

Hello, tiemen,
This message report that sound system can't generate sources. Is this happens all the times when you start application? Are You hear any sounds in application?

"Also, when running the game in full-screen i can't seem to find an exit button. "

Yes, we know this, and will make it in next version.

Thank You, for comments.

Hi,
press windows "Start" button, then select a "Run..." and type "regedit" in text box.
explore "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" got to "Software->NTSG->PoolStars"
and delete all this PoolStars directory. Then try to launch PoolStars again. Tell us how it goes.

EDIT: as I saw now everything is fine Wink
