Hi, here in the uk & ireland, most people play 8-ball. i assume there are plans to add different game types since i see the Game Type filed in the lobby?

Also, people have different rules in 8-ball, depending on what bar you're in. eg - 2 shots for a foul and 1 if you're on the black. some people would carry 2 shots on the black. some people make you double the black. options for different rules would be great.

i like the game so far. accuracy's good, the cusions and ball physics seem spot on.

Hello Bobandy,

Welcome to PoolStars! Thanks for your comments and questions.

We are in process of developing 8-ball. Given that our spokesman detests British 8-ball Happy, we will be releasing only international rules for 8-ball on an american table like we have now... having the cue ball be the same size as the rest of the balls! We have delayed, because we are making sure we get 9-ball right and all it's rules working right. It is also planned to develop Snooker and Russian Pyramid.

As to my opinion on UK 8-ball, I almost got in a fight the first time I played it because the rules differ so much for the rest of the world's general interpretation of 8-ball. Happy

Thanks, Woody Deck. I can live with international rules, cheers! Cheers
Also, are there plans for doubles or killer/lives?

I'd also like to see more information while I'm playing, like opponents rating (the number), number of wins/losses in the current session or against a particular player and number of consecutive balls potted, things like that.

One other thing, can we see more infomation about what is being planned for the future somewhere on the site?

Thanks again!

Heh, well I'm opposed to "the spokesman's" loathing for the UK rules 8 ball.
I like both UK and world Rules 8 ball equally, the rule and table differences make them very different games.
And to Bobandy I played league and prize uk 8 ball all over the uk for many years and I can tell you this, if there is a foul on the 8 ball, it makes no difference, the opponent gets 2 visits. There are official uk rules and anything else is made up or myth.
All this nonsense about only 1 visit, banking the 8 ball and so on are usually local or individual pub rules that they have made for poorer players to retain a chance after fouling.
The best option if there is any uncertainty when playing in a venue you are not familiar with is to search for the official rules posted on the wall of the venue. If you can't find them, don't play there. If you do find them and there is a dispute with the local player, refer them to their own official rules board.
